§ 2-3.205. Members: Appointment.

  • The members of the Citizens' Election Advisory Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor pursuant to the following selection method:

    (a)

    Selection Board: Members. A Selection Board, consisting of representatives from five (5) interested service clubs and organizations and the chairperson from each Neighborhood Council, shall make selections for appointments to the regular and alternate positions of the Commission. Any service club or organization wishing to have a representative upon the Selection Board shall submit his proposed name to the Council. Service clubs or organizations whose representatives shall serve on the Selection Board shall be chosen by the Mayor by selection at random.

    (b)

    Selection Board: Terms. Each Selection Board member representing a service club or organization shall serve for a period limited to two (2) years from the date of his random selection by the Mayor. Each Selection Board member who is a chairperson of a Neighborhood Council shall serve for a period coterminous with that of his term as said chairperson.

    (c)

    Selection Board: Recommendations. The Selection Board shall select regular and alternate members for service on the Commission from a list of interested citizens who have submitted their names by written application to the Selection Board for possible appointment to the Commission. The Mayor shall consider the interested citizens recommended by the Selection Board when appointing the members of the Commission, upon approval of the majority Council voting on the issue. A member of the Commission may be removed by a four-fifths ( 4/5 ) vote of all the members of the Council.

    (d)

    Selection Board: Meetings. The Selection Board shall convene as required to make selections to fill regular and alternate positions on the Commission. In the event the Commission is not activated during any special or general municipal election, the provisions of this article shall remain in effect for implementation for succeeding elections.
